Beautiful step-by-step projects for everyday living

Susan Cooper

Make the everyday gorgeous by turning functional items into objects of beauty. By using textiles to cover, quilt or otherwise enhance everyday items, the author shows you how to create works of art that will bring you pleasure every time you use them, from marking your place with a baroque bookmark to heading out on a shopping spree with a glorious handbag.

The author simplifies the intricacies of dyeing fabrics so you can create your own colour ranges for individual looks, while beading techniques to give a unique range of individual trims are also explained.

The projects — ranging from tissue box covers to luxurious shawls — are lavishly illustrated and carefully explained in detailed, step-by-step instructions and accompanying diagrams.

Whether you are a novice with a sewing machine or a dedicated craftsperson, you’ll soon be seduced by the rewards of textile art and enjoying your own opulent creations.

Today home crafts are at the forefront of designer style, providing you with trendy new ways to transform your home. So let The Textile Touch work its magic in your life!

Reviews

"An outstanding book, beautifully produced and full of new ideas for the crafty one amongst us.  Replete with comprehensive step-by-step instructions, this books has pull out plans that will teach you about textiles as well as guide through making dozens of projects"  Apparel Magazine, November 2007

"From sarongs to brooches and baroque-style bookmarks, it's all found in this beautifully produced book.  Step-by-step instructions are laid out concisely on the page, woven between the large glossy pictures, which makes it a treat to read ...  Susan Cooper has an eye for colour and texture and uses luscious fabrics like velvet, satin and chenille in imaginative ways.  There is also plenty of advice on choosing colour combinations.  The instructions are well written and easy to follow.  This beautiful book would appeal to someone with little experience, but a veteran could also gain much satisfaction from its pages."  Waikato Times, November 2007

" 'Creating textile works nourishes my soul' writes Susan Cooper ....  While being  full of gorgeously vibrant pictures infused with the deepest colours reminiscent of Indian saris, this is also a practical step-by-step guide ...  For anyone with artistic appreciation, some patience, skill and time, this book will prove rewarding and useful."  The Press (Christchurch), November 2007
