Living Proof

That Cats Do Have Nine Lives

Janet Hayward

This book is bound to make you both laugh and cry! Living Proof is a celebration of our favourite pet and its amazing ability to survive against all the odds. A collection of true stories from around the world, it showcases cats and kittens with a range of histories who have survived sometimes near-fatal, but always remarkable adventures, to enjoy a happy ending! These incredible stories include cats who have survived horrendous natural disasters, others who have travelled unbelievable distances to return home, and heart-warming stories of once neglected and abandoned cats who have gone on to become show winners!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Janet Hayward has worked in the media for many years and was at one time the publicist for Australia’s Cat Adoption Centre Program. A lover of all animals, she has sadly never been fortunate enough to own a cat herself, but instead has a soft spot for all her friends’ cats! She currently shares her life with her young son Charlie and her somewhat older dog Marvin. This is her first book, inspired by the incredible stories she heard through her work at the Cat Adoption Centre Program.

Among the many incredible stories inside Living Proof you’ll :-
• meet Hitch and Hiker, two kittens who found out just how lucky Las Vegas can be
• marvel at Big Boy, who survived a night surrounded by crocodiles
• applaud Agatha’s courage - a blind cat who foiled a burglary and left the thief a marked man
• cheer for Tiger, Rainbow, Charlie and Guiseppe who held fast during a hurricane
• and wonder at the audacity of Pusskin, the littlest cat who took on the biggest snake to save her owner’s life!

Reviews

'In a heart warming, well documented series of events from around the world, Hayward finds much to be glad about in the cat-sphere. However she doesn't gloss over the aspects of cruelty which plague cats from a species which believes it is superior, but in reality is sometimes grossly inferior and should know better; humans. But this book is a testimony to the courage and tenacity of cats ......  A great read to give away as a gift - but better still make sure you've got one on your own shelf for a pick-me-up'.  Greymouth Star, November 2007

'Enjoy a collection of remarkable stories of cats' survival around the world including New Zealand's own Colin, a permanent resident of Port Taranaki's tanker terminal.  That is until he went off globe trotting and became a TV celebrity at the South Korean port of Yeosu.  There's Agatha, a blind cat who foiled a burglary and left the thief a marked man; Big Boy, who survived a night surrounded by crocodiles; Cleo who lived through a high-rise fall from a London window.  Nine lives?  Incredible some of them.  A must-read for cat lovers.  Entertainingly written by Janet Hayward, a former publicist for Australia's Cat Adoption Centre Programme.'
